Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
Sojourners, published since 1971, is an ecumencial Christian magazine with a strong commitment to social justice and activism. Articles in Sojourners underscore the intersection of faith, politics, and culture, and address current events and issues such as spirituality, poverty, racism, and nonviolence. Readers come from a wide variety of backgrounds within Christianity, and beyond. They actively seek the connection between their faith and social justice, and an alternative vision for the church and society.

5 out of 5 stars Much-needed antidote to the militant "Christians"   October 24, 2007

I live an hour north of "Focus on the Family," a right-wing mega-church that seems more focused on anger than Christian love. They don't like liberals, gays, Muslims, multiculturism, Democrats and others. "Focus" and its authoritarian orientation advances a theology that's quite conducive to the goals of its neighbor, the US Air Force Academy.
With God on Our Side: One Man's War Against an Evangelical Coup in America's Military
"Focus" has a media empire with over 2000 radio stations around the world.
"Sojouners" on the other hand resembles the teachings of Jesus, they're concerned about the poor, and they advocate for peace & justice. Even their advertisements are heartening, as many of them are for opportunities to cultivate compassion in the world.
"Sojourners" is very well designed, both long and short segments, interviews, interpretations of scripture, etc. The current issue includes a segment on great books for children. It also features an article by Brian McLaren, adapted from his book Everything Must Change: Jesus, Global Crises, and a Revolution of Hope.
The editor, Jim Wallis, is a very influential author and speaker. It would be great if he was on 2000 stations. Fortunately, he has written some best-selling books such as God's Politics: Why the Right Gets It Wrong and the Left Doesn't Get It (Plus), and Sojourners is working on a radio studio.
I would urge people not to let themselves be deterred by some ordering obstacle. Maybe calling the magazine directly and ordering with a credit card would be a better way to go, or sending in a subscription card from a copy of the magazine. Either way, "Sojourners" is an important journal that deserves support.

5 out of 5 stars Progressive Christianity At Its Best   March 31, 2007

Sojourners Magazine is a welcome answer to the hate and Un-Christian messages of the radical right so-called religion writers and ministers. The articles in the magazine and their authors concentrate on the relevancy and truthfullness of the Progressive Christian message from Jesus Christ for the 21st century.

2 out of 5 stars Ordered but returned automatically   October 4, 2006

This is an amazing magazine, but I, like the others, had trouble getting it through amazon. I ordered it just fine, but the company automatically refunded my money 8 weeks later. I never received any issues. It was listed as "returned" but I never returned anything.

1 out of 5 stars Ditto Ordering Problems   July 13, 2006

I have to agree with the previous review about subscribing to this magazine through Amazon. Someone accepted the payment, but they claim there is no record of my subscription.

Update: It's been a year since I subscribed to this magazine. I never received a single issue nor did I get any of my money back. However, now they want me to RENEW my subscription. There isn't a record of my subsciption when I want the magazine or a refund, but now that they want more money there is a record? Unbelievable!
