Great toning, very easy to find the time to do May 26, 2008 I bought this product from Bed Bath and Beyond a couple of years ago. I love how they are the only resistance bands I've been able to find that has hand and feet holes. Most do not, so I don't know how you can use them for ab, arms, and leg workouts, as you can with these. The person that gave it one star apparently never gave it a chance. The video teaches you VISUALLY how to do the seperate movements shown in picture form on the included poster. Yes, the video is only about 7 minutes long, but let me tell you, that's ALL you can do when you first start pilates movements. Wow. It took me about 2 months before I started running the video two or three times for several reps of the exercises. Once you've watched the video a dozen times and you've memorized the movements, you can customize your workout to do as many reps of each as you want, or skip one body zone entirely, if you feel you need more help in your thigh area or ab area.
And the system really works. In the first two months I dropped a whole size, and I could visibly see definition in my arms and shoulders. And yes, this was only by doing the 7 minute video EVERY OTHER DAY. I was down to a size 6 after about 5 months just doing the video twice every other day. I haven't been near a 6 since before my son was born 8 years ago. Sure, I added a daily 20 minute walk, too, which I think most people could manage to find the time to do. I was well pleased by the results.
In fact, I'm desperately looking for a replacement for mine, since after two years of use, they are beginning to fray and lose the elasticity a bit, so I want to find another before they go completely.
If you really feel a bit out of shape, or concerned about certain of your parts starting to sag a bit, then try these. Your muscles will tone up, and you really will go down a size. Add a daily walk after a month for the cardio, and you're well on your way to finding time to finally be fit.
Great Bands!! June 27, 2005 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
A problem I have from playing tennis is that my right side becomes bigger than my left side due to swinging the racquet. I tend to build muscle easily which I guess is good but in this case I look funny. I bought these bands to isolate the left side so I can build muscle there. I was amazed that I could actually fatigue the various muscles at 8 to 10 reps using these bands. The trick is to pause for 2 seconds at the peak of resistance. I did have to use both bands at the same time to achieve this. What's nice about these particular bands is that you can adjust the resistance. If you look on the net you'll notice many bands being sold dont have this option. I'm very pleased with these bands and I actually look forward to my workouts.
Just Awful January 28, 2005 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
This Walmart version of "GET FIT BASICS" Pilates System must come packaged with defective cords because no way was mine going to stretch to what I was seeing on the video. Oh and the video was all of 5 minutes, that's it!... with absolutely no introduction to the usage of the cord system whatsoever. The video starts as if you've already missed the beginning and when I tried to rewind it I found that it was already WAS at the beginning. This is a terrible product.
