5 out of 5 stars CRASH TESTED-Saved my baby   January 1, 2009
3 out of 3 found this review helpful

My sister bought this for me after we reviewed many different carseat/stroller sets. My daughter is now 40 days hold. The day she turned 30 days old we were driving through Kansas. I was driving. We hit a large patch of ice and i lost control of our 01Chevy silverado truck. We went across the median passing two semi's then down a slope and then the truck flipped. We landed on the tires. My husband and i looked at eachother then immediately turned to check on Samantha. She was just fine. Not a mark on her and she only decided to cry because the can of formula spilled open and got powder on her. This carseat and base saved her life. That is why im am purchasing it again. It didn't move through the whole thing. This was a roadtrip for us and she did great in this carseat. And the stroller is really easy and light to take in and out of car.

3 out of 5 stars Decent stroller, cheap car seat   December 31, 2008
0 out of 2 found this review helpful

Our new car seat/stroller combination arrived today. I bought it based on all of the reviews online. This travel system seemed to be reviewed better than most others... and the price was much cheaper.

Upon taking the car seat and stroller out of the box, I immediately inspected the car seat and my husband put the stroller together. The canopy for the car seat is more than flimsy, it is horrible. The plastic piece that inserts in the front of the canopy to make it sturdy was bent in the middle and looked like someone had sat on the top of the car seat. I'm quite vexed about the poor quality and the state in which the product arrived.

The stroller was quite simple for my husband to put together. It only took a matter of minutes for him to complete it.

Overall, I was stunned at how cheap the stroller and car seat look. The material is not high quality. My husband thinks it is fine (agrees that it looks cheap), but I think that carrying around this car seat will make us look like we are in need of financial assistance.

If you appreciate high quality products, do not purchase this travel system. You may be enticed by the price, but please buy something you can be proud to show off. If you realize that this travel system will only be used for a short while and don't really care too much about appearances, then this travel system will work just fine. I just don't want someone staring at my car seat thinking that I sat on top of it.

4 out of 5 stars Love it with ONE caveat...   December 29, 2008

Like many of the other reviews, I was worried the whole time I was waiting for this item, wondering if it was what I wanted/needed and wondering if I should have gone with a big brand name.

Well this system has been with us through 4lbs to 17lbs and it is still wonderful. The stroller is truly one-handed fold up, I do it constantly. The car seat is standard and safe and clips in and out of the base easily.

The ONLY problem I have had is that several times a trip with the stroller, the front wheel turns on me and I can't get it to walk right. But that wouldn't stop me from getting it, on all other levels this system ROCKS!

2 out of 5 stars The Lock is Impossible -- Go for Something Else   December 15, 2008
Both my husband and I agree that this car seat is just awful. Such a pain. The clip that locks the baby in between the legs is the most maddening, annoying, poorly designed piece of equipment. I've had other people try to lock the thing together, to make sure it wasn't just me doing it improperly, but everyone has had the same experience: the seat is impossible.

I have two children that are a few years older, and their car seat was so much simpler -- the strap came down over their heads and had a single buckle that you pushed right into the locking mechanism, which was built into the seat itself. For this contraption, there are two straps that go over each arm, then you have to fit two plastic pieces together just so and then wedge those into a free-floating buckle that never fails to flip backward as I am lowering my son into the seat so that it is completely underneath him, requiring fishing around under him while trying to hold the two pieces in place. We're lucky that we have a cooperative baby, because if your baby squirms or arches while trying to get him or her into the seat, forget it.

I signed up for this system because there were so many good reviews, but I have to say, I fully regret this choice. After three months of dealing with this, we're looking for a new seat. I gave it two stars instead of one because the stroller is fine.

4 out of 5 stars initial thoughts   December 4, 2008
i have edited this review to remove the minor complaint about there not being instructions on how to install the car seat base. the explanation is that i am a moron: there is a separate manual for the car seat and base and i'd just overlooked it.
---

1. i'm very happy we purchased this before the price shot up by $50. purchased it on sunday for $137, and it is at $187 now.

2. it arrived today, and it took me less than 20 minutes to put it together. i emphasize this because i am not particularly good at putting things together. at first glance i thought the instructions were not detailed enough, but then i realized it was taking me no time at all anyway--it is a fairly intuitive process, and there are lots of reassuring clicks along the way so you know you've done things correctly.

3. we're not going to be actually using this for another two months so i can't speak to practical use issues--i hope it will work as well as it looks (it's really quite a stylish combo, especially as compared to the graco systems). however, there is one thing that i can tell already will not work: the seat back can nominally be raised for a child that doesn't want to recline quite as much. however, given how little hand pressure it takes for it to release back to the default setting, i can't imagine it'll work with >22 pounds of weight pushing back on it. that said, the default recline setting is far from horizontal so i doubt it will be an issue.

4. folding and unfolding is a breeze. no problems folding it with just one hand. just remember to lock the front and back wheels before folding so that it doesn't tip over.

5. the release mechanism for the carrying handle of the car seat is a little fussy though--that's pretty much the one thing that doesn't just flow smoothly. i guess we'll know in two months whether that will be a big problem.

6. the stroller and the infant seat are both light. but they also look and feel solid and safe. and did i say it is a very stylish stroller? this may be an issue for those looking for something very "kiddie"; this is not.

7. i have given it four stars for now, because of the seat recline issue, and also because the car seat handle swivel mechanism isn't as smooth as the rest. also, i think it would be wrong to give it 5 stars at this point since we haven't actually used it yet. i'll reconsider the rating once we've got some real use from it in a couple of months.

i'm happy to answer any questions people thinking about purchasing this may have, and i'll try to remember to come back and post once we actually have the cargo available.
