Product Description
Do they call menopause "the change" because . . .
  • You have to change shirts three times a day-after you've sweat through them?
  • You have to change addresses, just to avoid all that mail from the AARP?
  • You have to change your diet to nothing but milk and broccoli-just to get your RDA of calcium?
With hot flashes, mood swings, and night sweats (oh, my!), menopause might not be your favorite phase of life. However, bestselling author Joanne Kimes is here to provide relief as welcome as hand-held fans and sweat-free sheets. In her signature, no-holds-barred style, Kimes dishes on:
  • Dealing with a rollercoaster of emotions
  • Anecdotes, remedies, and gentle tips to help you cope with all the physical changes you're facing
  • How to enjoy menopausal sex
Menopause brings about a whirlwind of emotional and physical transformations. Menopause Sucks gives you all the info-and belly laughs-you need to cool down during this hot change of life.

Customer Reviews:

5 out of 5 stars Perimenopause, Menopause...both crazy times, but this book helps with humor and helpful information.   September 16, 2008

The fact is I'm 41, exhausted, can't remember diddly, sweat buckets all the time, and could chomp the heads of small children at a Christmas play, but reading this book made me laugh and realize that I am not alone!

I picked this book up at a local seller after opening it up and reading the title of Chapter 8: "Mental Issues Are Important- If You Can Remember Them". In the past year it's all I can do to remember where I'm going when I get into my car, so this hit home.

The book is written in a light, humorous way, but offers good insight into the 'why' perimenopausal and menopausal women feel the way they do. It also offers hope and suggestions for correcting or at least dealing with things such as a loss in libido and forgetfulness. The book also talks about the importance of expercise for our brains and bodies, and how certain toxins can impair our brains even further.

Lots of good, relevant information about how hormones effect our bodies and brains, as well as explanations of specific syndromes and therapies are also in the book. Nothing is overly clinical, so it's easily understood.

Filled with encouraging words, this book is a great gift for a friend or to give to yourself. It's also a good book to share with your mate...if you can remember where you put it!

5 out of 5 stars Laugh Out Loud Funny!!   July 20, 2008

A friend of mine told me about this book and I was interested right away, since I'm facing "the change." I was laughing from page one, and literally had tears streaming down my face at other times during the read. What a fun and inspirational way to look at a part of life that can certainly be anything but! I especially liked the chapter on sex. Bravo! I have since recommended the book to several other friends. If you have a girlfriend facing (or in the midst of) menopause, don't hesitate to buy her this book!
