"Cyclone Speaks with Forked Tongue" February 3, 2004 First of all, this is a solid, non-wavering joystick that is great for use with basic fire buttons. But take what the instruction manual says with a spoonful of salt. I have tried to program the joystick to work with a basic DOS computer AND with a 98 Windows computer. Neither recognizes the joystick except in the DEFAULT mode. That's an instruction manual program that allows you to use two basic fire buttons only (forget the other 15 or whatever). When you try to program, using several buttons to perform various functions from the keyboard equivalents, either of two things happen. Either none of your games will recognize the joystick at all, or they will only recognize the DEFAULT mode. The problem may be that while the manual instructions are fine to a point, they fail or overlook the most important instruction...how to correlate each program setting with a corresponding game. One game I have... Battle Hawks of the Lucas Arts Air Combat Classics will not recognize the joystick under any condition. IF you want ONLY to use the joystick for basic two fire button use, the joystick will perform admirably. Otherwise, look elsewhere for a joystick and save yourself utter frustration. (Don't expect help online from the manufacturer...Either they have gone out of business or are lying (pun) low.)
I think this is a great joystick for those great sims. August 14, 1999 31 out of 39 found this review helpful
This joystick is one of the best ones I have ever seen. It is really great for flight simulations. The extra buttons on the bottom are really great. It is much easier than using a keyboard.
