Keyboard works, trackball.....not so much January 10, 2009 I purchased this keyboard for a client of mine and it worked for her. I installed it (syncing it to the receiver) about 10ft away and didn't have problems with signal strength. The trackball (mouse) is terrible on this thing. It pretty much does not work at all. Even setting it right next to the receiver did not help at all. IMO its completely useless, so if you want to use it for a mouse replacement look elsewhere or purchase a separate one.
One thing that confused me was I could not type on the right side of the keyboard correctly. Whenever I did it would put numbers instead of letters. I would have to hold the fn button while I used the keys on the right. Later, I figured out that it was because the numlock was turned on by default (on this computer anyway) so all I had to do was press fn + numlock to disable it. Than I could type normally without holding the fn button the whole time (which was a major pain).
The main reason I got this no-name brand keyboard was because I required a narrow wireless keyboard to fit in small area and this was the only one I could find that was under $180.....
review January 9, 2009 This is what I was looking for in functionality so me meets that criteria. It is generic looking and feeling. Seems to work at a good distance.
The thing that brings it down is the fact that I have to reconnect to the receiver everytime I reboot. I want to be able to turn on the computer and not have to sync them to get it to work. It should automatically just connect and work.
Eats batteries like crazy! November 27, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Functionally, this is a nice little keyboard. I bought it to turn a second computer I owned into an internet web surfing platform for my 42" LCD in the living room. I plugged in the USB stick into my Vista computer and it worked instantly. The problem with the battery cover mentioned elswhere here is very true. There is not enough room designed into the battery compartment to accommodate some slightly larger circumference AA batteries. In any case, the big problem with this keyboard is that it eats batteries like crazy! There is apparently some battery drain no matter if you are using the keyboard or not. After going quickly thru a 12-pack of quality alkaline batteries I bought 4 rechargeables. I need to buy 4 more. The keyboard runs thru a charge on these in a little over a day or two. If you are thinking of purchasing this product, I highly suggest doing the same. One other thing worth mentioning is, that the keyboard sometimes comes on with the NUM LOCK engaged, which may drive you crazy when you don't get the characters you expect when typing on it.
Looks Good, and works great! October 22, 2008 I bought it so that I could surf the web on my 42" flat screen from my futon. It allows me to be lazy and proactive at the same time!
Wireless/trackball October 3, 2008 this keyboard is just as advertised. works with Linux, Ubuntu and windows vista right out of the box. keys are a little stiff but very functional.
