Editorial Reviews:

Product Description
The Lifetime Trackball keyboard is a 104-key Windows Compatible keyboard featuring a built-in trackball. It's the perfect solution for users looking to make the move to a trackball and reduce desktop clutter.Like all Lifetime products, the Trackball keyboard is an example of innovative design and engineering. The trackball is ergonomically located below the spacebar for convenient operation - you can move your cursor without lifting your hands from the keyboard. Maintenance is a snap, since the retaining ring is easily removed for cleaning.

Customer Reviews:

2 out of 5 stars Great concept. Terrible execution.   January 9, 2009
Oh well. It was worth a shot, but I am going to return it.
I have problems with numbness in my R hand from using a mouse or marble.
By putting a trackball onto to the bottom of the keyboard, the Keytronic solves the ergonomic issue perfectly.
But the shoddiness of the hardware creates more problems than it solves.
The pointing device is a rock in a bucket. It was obsolete 10 years ago.
It makes a grinding noise, does not spin easily and the mechanical contact points need to be cleaned constantly.
It would have simple to use an optic marble that spins freely.
I wrote to the company, got back a form email - very quickly, though.
So there it that.

Very frustrating. 2 stars for the idea - now we need a company to complete the process.

4 out of 5 stars Best ergonomically, only because there's not much competition!   October 24, 2008

I have had a series of these keyboards over the last several years; they are absolutely the best for anyone like me who does a lot of keyboarding and has RSI issues. Nothing else I have tried (I'm experimenting at the moment with a "Rollermouse Pro") is as efficient and easy to use. This keyboard places the trackball and buttons just below my thumbs; easy to get at without really taking my hands off the keyboard. Fast and centered and comfortable. HOWEVER! I have to keep replacing the keyboard with a new one, because crud collects in the well of the trackball, which starts skipping and sticking within months of purchase. I manage to make the keyboard last a year, maybe, and then I have replace it. Ridiculous! But I can't find anything equally comfortable and keep going back to it; it beats having aching hands and wrists, and being slowed down in my work.

With all the development money pumped in to computers and hardware, why are mice/trackballs so primitive?! Come on, developers, get me some alternatives! Something that is more robust, and has a scroll button!!

2 out of 5 stars Great concept, could be better   October 20, 2008
I was very excited to find a keyboard that had a trackball in the middle, just below the spacebar, to minimize arm/hand movement. However, with a little thought this could have been a much better keyboard. First, there is no scroll button on this guy. I soooo miss that. Second, the trackball is old-school and feels scratchy. I can get used to it, but it just reminds me how much I miss my Trackman Marble. Third, there are some quality issues - it looks like some cracks in the plastic cover had been repaired in the factory, but they were still obvious. And the key labels had a cheap look to them. This keyboard would totally rock with an optical trackball, a scroll button, and a little better paint job.
