3 out of 5 stars Alanis without the Potty Mouth   July 12, 2008

Yes, the first person I think of in listening to this is Alanis Morissette, who I love. Having said that, there is no reason Miley cannot work in this arena. She is growing up. And Uncle Walt wouldn't want her swearing any more than he wanted Annette in a bikini. Her voice is passible - I've heard better, but please. I give this effort three stars and look forward to seeing where she goes from here.

2 out of 5 stars Typically, Not Like Miley   July 12, 2008

When it comes down to great young role models, there are few and far between like Miley Cyrus from Hannah Montana. Sadly, though even though she does make a good example for young women, she can make a song or two that feels like it is just a walk that wonders away. That is the case with her first single under her regular name, Miley Cirus, 7 Things. When I first heard the song, I was hoping she'd do something completely different to seperate herself from other younger divas who've made poor songs like Vanessa Hudgens from High School Musical with her latest Sneakernight, or Ashanti with The Way That I Love You. I really was dissapointed in Miley with this song, because it is one of the 7 songs released this year that I really hate out right now.

I'll admit the song is catchy but after learning her reason for writing the song caused my opinion of this Disney "Princess" to hit rock bottom, when I didn't think it could be any lower. Her reasoning makes her come off as a whiney pop star who is trying to show that she's not a child but instead coming off the exact opposite, a petty child who is trying to get attention by attacking those who've -in her mind- "wronged" her. I'm not the biggest fan of her voice either, it's almost too raspy. Not to mention the only reason she has anything is because of her daddy. I like Billy Ray Cyrus-more so early years- and thought that his daughter would be just as great but was disappointed. Miley is what I call a clasic riding off famous parents' fame and fortune.

1 out of 5 stars Way into negative digits here.   June 20, 2008

Cyrus is not a vocalist, nor is she an entertainer for anyone beyond the age of 10. This song writing is an Alanis Morissette rip-off, done poorly I might add. The vocals are a blemish on an already vulgar face.

4 out of 5 stars She Lost 3 Things...   June 19, 2008

Remember that movie, "10 Things I Hate About You?" Well, neither do I, probably because I haven't seen it, but along with Sex and The City, Miley Cyrus is apparently a fan of that too. So naturally, such a topic must be converted to song form, but along the way, she lost 3 things, and gained 7 more. The first list is seemingly what the 10 things is, including the 7th thing she hates about her guy is how much she loves him. Who didn't see that coming? She still is a property of Disney after all.

Anyways, to make up for the 7 things she hates, she comes up with 7 things she loves about her lover. Ahhh... How sweet! Sarcastic maybe, but what did you expect. While it is good that she is doing something slightly original, it's not exactly in my realm, but I'm not a girl under 18. So her audience will of course love her and erect alters for her, and bow and worship at her feet. For the rest of us, it actually isn't that bad of a song. Actually, it's good. I wouldn't say pretty good, or great, but just good. Really people, she isn't inventing the wheel.

Overall, happy love pop that will sure to please every Miley fan that's still allowed to listen to her after Sheet-Gate. And as probably Miley's biggest hater, I can say that this song isn't half bad.
